But there is a rich history of dinosaur fossils all around Morrison, Colorado, and when you're local, you see nods to them everywhere from national parks to murals and even on guided tours," he says. "The design of the HGTV Dream Home 2023 is rooted in the history and landscape of Morrison," he says.
"I love the limestone fireplace facade of the dining room. It's so classic and timeless and offers so much rugged texture," he says. "I also love how the massive wagon wheel chandelier stands out against it." The 2023 HGTV Dream Home winner will not only get the keys to the fully-furnished home, but also a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and $100,000 from Ally, a package worth over $2.7 million. Designed by Western Design Group and built by Mountain Plain Homes, the 4,360-square-foot property boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms. HGTV decorator Brian Patrick Flynn, who helmed the house's interior design, spoke with PEOPLE about its unique style and one-of-a-kind features. "The house sits more or less on the side of a mountain and so building into such a slope was a massive engineering feat, but once that was all tackled, all else was super smooth." The approximately 3,650-square-foot house is situated on the edge of Glacier National Park with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and Whitefish Lake in Montana’s renowned Flathead Valley. Designed to cater to both an active lifestyle and big doses of fireside relaxing and entertaining, the style of HGTV Dream Home 2019 can best be described as mountain modern.
The home’s main bedroom features a deck, an en suite bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a deck with views of the mountains. The two guest suites are dressed in unique color palettes complete with designated seating areas. Natural beauty with various outdoor seating options, a full outdoor kitchen, as well as a cozy firepit off a waterfall and natural stone bridge, in addition to a private pergola placed right in the middle of nature. "The must-have features of the outdoor space today includes easy-to-care-for floor surfaces and furniture so well designed it's hard to tell that it's not meant for indoor use," shares Brian. "Rugged, active, practical, durable, unexpected, western, warm, cozy." That's how designer Brian Patrick Flynn describes this year's HGTV® Dream Home. Inspired by the stunning Colorado mountains and contemporary city life that surrounds the home, Flynn created an elegant, yet relaxed escape for one lucky winner.
Amid Colorado’s natural beauty are various seating options and a full outdoor kitchen. A cozy firepit off a waterfall and natural stone bridge, and a private pergola in the middle of nature, lend additional retreats for the future homeowner. Packed with custom touches and local craftsmanship, the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath retreat boasts a great room with floor-to-ceiling accordion windows that open to an expansive outdoor living area. An upper deck and lower patio provide dining and lounging areas, grill, fireplace, and Scandinavian hot tub, all near a private entry to the Big Mountain ski slopes.
